CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS

Choose the programs which interest you and join us for a real ed-venture at the zoo.  Classes are held in the African Huts across from the rhino house.

Teachers will meet you and your child at the zoo's front entry.

  All programs require advance registration and payment. 

Registrations cannot be accepted by phone.

PRE-SCHOOLERS

Zoosday Tuesday Join us for some zoo-riffic fun at the African Huts across from the Rhino House.  All activities are free with zoo admission and may include crafts, story time, small animal encounters and games.

10:00 a.m. Tuesday 

Registration is not required.

Free with zoo admission.

Zoosday will continue until May 20 then resume September 2.

SUMMER DAY CAMPS

These summer camps are age-appropriate ed-ventures filled with lots of Zoo fun.  Activities include animal information, time on zoo grounds, art activities, stories, games, songs and close encounters with touchable small animals. 

A morning snack and drink will be furnished.

All camps require advance registration and payment. 

Registrations cannot be accepted by phone.

Half-day camps (9:00-noon)     ZooMembers:      $60

                                                     Non-members:    $75

Full-day camps (9:00-3:00)      ZooMembers:     $100

4 & 5 YEAR OLDS

Wet 'n Wild   Find out which animals are all wet.

Creepy Crawlers  Yucky to some; way cool to us.

Wild Tales  Wild tales about wild critters. 

     July 21-25     9:00 a.m. - noon 

Who's Hatching?  Eggs-actly the camp for you. 

     July 28-August 1     9:00 a.m. - noon

6-8 YEAR OLDS 

It's Not Easy Being Green  You'll want to "plant" yourself in this camp. 

June 16-20     9:00 a.m. - noon 

Radical Rainforests  Tropical discoveries await. 

July 7-11     9:00 a.m. - noon 

Radical Rainforests is FULL.  We cannot accept any more registrations.

Say What?  Discover ways animals communicate. 

July 21-25     9:00 a.m. - noon 

Eggs-citing Ed-venture  We'll hatch some fun in this camp.

9-11 YEAR OLDS 

Astounding Arthropods  Who is spineless and has jointed legs?

Insect Invasion  Don't bug out on this camp!

The Wet, the Dry and the Slimy  Hurray for herps!! 

July 7-11     9:00 a.m. - noon 

Creature Colors  Animal colors mean more than just camouflage. 

July 21-25     9:00 a.m. - noon

12-16 YEAR OLDS  

*It's a Watery World  Discover a world of aquatic life. 

June 9- 13     9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  

*Ain't Misbehavin'  Find out why animals act the way they do. 

June 23-27     9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. 

It's a Wonderful Life  Help our zookeepers provide environmental enrichments for our animals. 

July 28- August 1     8:00 a.m. - noon

*Campers need to bring a sack lunch each day.

ZOONIVERSITY CAMP

This 3-day, 2-night camp is for teens entering ninth through twelfth grades.  This camp is an opportunity to work alongside the zoo's professional staff and be convinced that dirty jobs really can be the most fun.  Register early as we can only accept a few campers.

July 14 -16  

9:00 a.m.Monday through 5:00 p.m. Wednesday 

ZooMembers:  $200  Non-members:  $250

ART CAMPS

These camps are sponsored by the Caldwell Zoo and the Tyler Museum of Art.  Youngsters will come to the zoo Monday through Wednesday and go to the Tyler Museum of Art on Thursday and Friday.  Campers will express themselves through a variety of art media and techniques. 

7-9 year olds 

Critter Creations  June 9-13     9:00 a.m. - noon 

10-14 year olds 

Animal Art  June 16-20     9:00 a.m. - noon 

PICTURE THAT! 

(Two-session class)  

You bring the camera and film and we'll supply the photo ops. 

6-9 year olds  August 5 & 7     9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
